Hi, this is Russell with Adobe. This is a recorded demo from an Adobe engineer on how to create custom shipping rates with Adobe’s AI tools. We’re gonna pick up with our speaker where he’s explaining some of the tools we use and the end goal for the session, which is using AI tools to extend the functionality of our Adobe Commerce Store and offer custom shipping rates. We are going to create a checkout extension using the Adobe Commerce Extensibility Starter Kit. This starter kit provides a scaffolding to create checkout extensions for our Commerce Store. There are many features that the scaffolding includes, things like samples for shipping methods, payment methods, as well as taxes. This is why this starter kit is going to be used as reference code to provide context to our agent.

Once things are ready, it is time to run the command to install the extensibility tools. Adobe offers a few different starter kits. One is the Integration Starter Kit, which is mainly devoted to event-driven integrations within commerce and external systems, such as an ERP, a CRM, PIM, and more.

Another starter kit is the Checkout Starter Kit, which is the one that we are going to use.

Our AI tools provide support for multiple coding agents, including cloud and copilot. For this demonstration, we’re going to use Clod. Here is a quick rundown of the process of installation. The package manager that we are using is going to install the set of skills based on what we need. There are a few obvious skills, including developer, architect, product manager, technical writer, and so on.

Eventually, during the process, there will be an MCP installed. The MCP tool wraps some of the AIO CLI commands to provide a few utility tools. These tools include things such as helpers to record and unregister events, as well as a wrapper to access the RAG database or a knowledge base. Once we have installed the tools, we’re going to start Visual Studio Code. As soon as Visual Studio Code is open and ready, we’re going to launch Clod.

However, before we launch Clod… Well, that’s it on this session for creating custom shipping rates with our Adobe AI tools. There are more videos on this topic, and you can find them on Experience League. And of course, I hope you come back to Experience League to learn more about Adobe Commerce, as well as all of the other Adobe products.
