Sometimes you want to share an Analysis Workspace project, but you forget to also share the segments and metrics that you included with your colleagues. This video shows how you can now share segments and metrics in the process of sharing your projects so that colleagues see what you intended every time.
In this video, I’ll demonstrate how to better democratize analytics data by sharing embedded components in Analysis Workspace. I already have a safe project that I’ll use for today’s demo. Now let’s say I’ve created a new segment and it hasn’t been shared with anyone yet. First, I’m going to apply a segment to my project.
I want to make sure that people I share this with have access to it when they open the report. The segment needs to be included so that the data will make sense and it will reflect what I actually want to share. One way to do this in the past would have been to use Segment Manager or actually just highlight it here and hit Share. But I’d have to remember to do that and I’m likely to forget. I might also miss some people that I eventually want to share the project with in the future. So the most effective way to do this now is when I open the Share modal, there’s a checkbox labeled Automatically share embedded components with recipients. I’m going to add Doug Moore to the Can Edit role. Now when I share this out to Doug or whoever else I add in the future, MyUSA visitor segment will be included in the project. And they can use this segment anywhere in Adobe Analytics, not just here in the project. If you put segments and calculated metrics in a project and you curate these things out, you can be certain that the right groups of people are receiving the right segments and calculated metrics. Hopefully this feature makes it easier for you to remember to share the right objects with the intended recipients. Good luck.
