Configure bot rules in Analytics

Bot Rules let you remove traffic from your report suite that is generated by known spiders and bots. Removing bot traffic can provide a more accurate measurement of user activity on your website. After bot rules are defined, all incoming traffic is compared against the defined rules. Traffic that matches any of these rules is not collected in the report suite and is not included in traffic metrics.

Hello, everyone. Today we will discuss the steps to configure bot rules in Analytics. Bot Rules let us remove traffic from our report suite that is generated by known spiders and bots. Removing bot traffic can provide a more accurate measurement of user activity on the website. After bot rules are defined, all incoming traffic is compared against the defined rules. Traffic that matches any of these rules is not collected in the report suite and is not included in traffic metrics. To update or upload bot rules, we need to navigate to Analytics, then Admin, and finally to Report Suites. Then, we need to select the correct report suite and go to Edit Settings, General and Bot Rules. There are two options for enabling bot filtering. The first one is to enable IAB bot filtering rules that uses the IABs International Spiders and Bots List to remove bot traffic. The second option is to define and add custom bot rules based on user agents, IP addresses, or IP ranges. Please note that bot traffic data is stored in a separate repository for display in the Bots and Bot Page report, which can be found under Reports in Analytics. So in this way, we can successfully configure bot rules in Analytics. Thank you. -
