Delegate signing to someone else

Learn how easy it is to delegate the signing of a document to someone else.

Transcript

In this tutorial, learn how to delegate signing of an agreement to someone else. There are two different ways to do this, depending on whether you’re logged into Acrobat Sign or not. If you’re logged into Acrobat Sign, you can delegate signing just by opening the agreement that is waiting for your signature, either by selecting Manage in the navigation bar, or selecting Waiting for You.

At this point, you can select the signed quick action, or View and Sign in the Details pane, as if you were going to sign it yourself.

When the document preview opens, in the top right corner of the window you will see an Options dropdown. Choose Delegate Signing to Another, then enter the email address of the person to delegate signing to, along with a message indicating why you are delegating to them. And when you’re done, select Delegate. This sends an email to the designated signer asking them to sign. Note that until the agreement is completed by the delegator, the original recipient can still sign the agreement, and it remains visible as waiting for you. Additionally, once the delegator completes the agreement, the original recipient also gets a copy of the signed agreement.

The second way to delegate is in the email notification you receive. Along with the option to Review and Sign, there is a link to delegate the signing of the agreement to someone else. Selecting this link opens a screen where you are prompted to enter the email address of the person to delegate to, along with a message indicating why you are delegating to them. As before, selecting Delegate sends an email to the designated signer, and the original recipient is still able to sign the agreement prior to completion by the designated signer. When signing is complete, a copy is sent to all parties.
