Hi, I’m Dawn Henderson. And I’m a Training Specialist here at Workfront. And we want to talk a little bit about analytics. So before you dive in and learn all the things about how to use analytics, we want to take a moment with our product team. With me today, I have Joel Pettigrew. And Joel is the Principal Product Manager over analytics. So he’s the big guy on this. So welcome Joel. Thank you so much for being with me today. Yeah, of course, thanks Dawn. Where did the idea for analytics come from? Was it kind of an answer to our customer request? Was it something we just thought would be really cool to offer? Where did we begin this? I mean, everybody wants data. Everybody wants data to make decisions and they want decision support. And so everybody wants analytics. They ask for it in lots of different ways. We actually did a survey with 800 different people saying, “If you use work management tool, what do you think an analytics tool would look like in that?” And this is why we built what we built. It’s to make it so people can get access to information easier. When we’re talking about the whole product, kind of suite that we offer, that is Workfront, right. Where does analytics kind of fit into that? It hopefully lets our customers measure anything. It lets them see what they want to see. So you’ve got reporting and analytics is really a compliment to that. Where you can see historical information. So it’s kind of hard to see how much a project’s condition changes. Like if you wanted to see something from a month ago. But in analytics you can easily see how often it changed and what it was and kind of why it is where it is. So it’s something that like a customer that was just launching, as an example, at what point would they start to find value in analytics? Do you think? They’d start a bunch of projects. They’d probably apply a bunch of templates. And then they’d be able to start managing the things in flight. So the very first view just says what projects are in flight today and what was the change of it. And you can go into each project and actually see how’s it going, compared to where you think it should be going. And it lets you see how, kind of what people are working on. Are people working on the things you think? Is there one industry? And maybe secondary question, is there one persona within our customer base that’s going to find the most value out of this? I think the persona is somebody that just wants to see how many different work streams are going on. And kind of manage multiple work streams. Whether that’s a director or a project manager, it’s just somebody that has multiple projects they’re trying to keep an eye on. As far as industry, I think every industry has a desire to have a better understanding of the cost of what they’re doing. And this shows that really easily and really simply. So the one thing I would ask, if we can just take just a second Joel, let’s dive into it just a little bit. I want you to tell me what your favorite portion of this product is and maybe give us a little sneak peek on this. Yeah, so I’ll share my screen right here. But my favorite thing, so I’ve got this looking at Q one 2019 and my KPIs are one of my favorite things. The KPIs update super fast. If I want to look at a quarter, a quarter, a week, a week and it’ll show my comparison of change. So I can see how many projects I completed, compared against the quarter before it. How many were on time, how long they were and then how big they are by a task count. So you can just very quickly see this. And the cool thing is, let’s say you want to look at six months, you could see all of the projects, if you’re an admin, all the projects compared in six month intervals. So you’d be able to actually see KPIs, even for fiscal years, really fast, just to see what was happening with your instance. I think that’s one of my favorite features. And again, that came right from customers, which is pretty cool. My other favorite is actually, you know what, I’m going to refresh the page and when I do that it’s just going to look to today. And you can see my filter stays the same. And I’ll look at this project. This is WCAG, which is accessibility. And you can see that we’ve been working on it for a while. We changed our plan completion date several times. And you can see that we slowly worked into it. But what tasks are still left? I can see the exact tasks that are still left. And it shows up here if they’re supposed to have started and they’re not complete. So I can see these four tasks are still left and I can actually click on a task and go into the details of it. I can write updates. I can change the percent complete as I want. And I can go back out of it really quickly and just look at another project that might need my attention. So I think those are probably my two favorite views, letting me get into the weeds. Where do you see this going in the future? Oh, that’s such a good question. So now that we have transactional data, we can do cool machine learning on top of it. Transactional data’s just change data. So instead of looking at what it is, you can see what it was, how often it manipulated. And with that historical context, we can build predictive models and we can kind of call projects out into focus and say, “Hey, you haven’t looked at this in a while.” And kind of draw attention appropriately. So we can really make project manager and director’s lives easier, by just automatically telling them, “Hey, based on everything you’ve done in the past, here’s where we’re going.” Well, thank you so much Joel, for spending some time with us today. Again, Joel Pettigrew is our Principal Project Manager over analytics. Just a moment to just pick your brain and see what you thought was cool on this. And I think you’ve done a a great job. So thanks for joining us. Yeah, of course.
