MDVA-40120: GraphQL product DESC/ASC sort doesn’t work

The MDVA-40120 patch solves the issue where GraphQL sorting by DESC/ASC doesn’t work with products having the same relevance or price. This patch is available when the Quality Patches Tool (QPT) 1.1.6 is installed. The patch ID is MDVA-40120. Please note that the issue is scheduled to be fixed in Adobe Commerce 2.4.4.

Affected products and versions

The patch is created for Adobe Commerce version:

• Adobe Commerce (all deployment methods) 2.4.2-p1

Compatible with Adobe Commerce versions:

• Adobe Commerce (all deployment methods) 2.4.1 - 2.4.3-p1

Issue

Prerequisites:

Create a few different products with the same price.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Run the following GraphQL query:

    
    {
      products(filter: {category_id: {eq: "{{cat_id}}"}}, sort: {relevance: ASC}) {
        total_count
        items {
          name
          sku
        }
      }
    }
    
    

2. Check the response.
3. Change the sort order from ASC to DESC in the GraphQL query:

    
    {
      products(filter: {category_id: {eq: "{{cat_id}}"}}, sort: {relevance: DESC}) {
        total_count
        items {
          name
          sku
        }
      }
    }
    
    

4. Check the response.

Expected results:

The product listing in the GraphQL response should be changed according to the sort order.

Actual results:

The sort order remains unchanged.
