5 reasons to join a Workfront User Group (WUG)

In the world of Workfront, collaboration isn’t just a fancy word—it’s a way of life. I mean, who doesn’t love a good project management tool that can turn chaos into a well-oiled machine? As the Workfront Technical Lead and System Administrator, Marketing, at Qualcomm, I started the Workfront (WUG) SoCal chapter because, let’s face it, I’m a planning enthusiast. From global enterprise workflows to grocery lists to snowboarding trips with friends, I can’t get enough of it! So, here are my top 5 reasons why you should join (or start) a WUG chapter in your area:

1. Workfronters love to connect with other Workfronters

Imagine a room full of people who get as excited about project timelines as you do. It’s like a dream come true! Joining a WUG lets you build a network of professionals who share your passion for turning chaos into order. They share a special language, and these connections can provide fresh insights and inventive solutions that might just blow your mind. Check out the WUG SoCal’s second casual meet-up event at Adobe Summit.

2. There’s a Workfront buddy...right around the corner!

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a total newbie, a Workfront buddy is always nearby. Think of it as having a project management co-pilot, ready with practical tips, a steady hand when things get messy, and a celebratory high-five when you conquer that tricky integration. When I met other chapter members, we discovered many of us live in the same neighborhood and frequent the same restaurants, making it even more exciting for planning meet-ups for our region.

3. Get invited to cool events

Think of user group meetings as the escape rooms of the professional world—collaborative, challenging, and surprisingly fun. At these events, you discover innovative integrations and practical tips that can make your life so much easier. Stay informed about the latest features and gain new perspectives on project management. It’s like a buffet of knowledge, but without the awkward small talk. Being a WUG leader or member may also score you an invitation to other exclusive “red carpet” events.

4. You can make a career impact

Whether you are taking on a leadership role in a WUG chapter or becoming a member, it can feel like you’ve unlocked a superpower. You’ll develop further skills as a Workfront guru (maybe even get tips for a certification to show off), and the networking opportunities can open new doors. WUG SoCal has members from every level of the organization – from people who have never used Workfront but want to learn, to system administrators, to Adobe partners seeking to better understand user challenges. There’s a place for everyone in a WUG, whether you’ve never used Workfront or are a certified expert.

5. It allows you to be creative

In my current day to day role, I don’t always get to utilize my creativity. Being a WUG user group leader has allowed me to think creatively and share those ideas. It's fulfilling to host fun events, share creative ideas, and introduce Workfront to your organizations in engaging ways. Take a look at this fun WUG SoCal tee shirt that I created.
