Create XML data Binding in AEM Forms Designer
Short Video which describes binding an AEM Form to an XML Data Source
Transcript
In this video, we’re going to bind this form to an XML data source. Binding to data sources provides the ability to associate your forms with data sources. This enables you to extract and send the user-filled form information to a database or other external data source. When you open the form that’s connected to a data source, the Data View palette shows you a graphical user representation of your form’s data elements. Binding to other data sources is a very similar process. To start things off, let’s take a look at the XML data source. I have pre-configured the XML file with the appropriate tags. Moving back to AEM Forms Designer, we’re going to change to the Data View. By right-clicking this view, we’re going to select New Data Connection. From here, we can give this data source a name. You can bind your form objects to an XML schema, a sample XML data file, an Adobe data model, a WSDL file, or an OLEDB object. For this example, we’re going to select Sample XML Data and click Next. From here, we can select the XML file. I’ll have several ways in which we can bind the form fields to the data source. By clicking on the field in the Form Design view, we can go to the Binding tab, click the Use Data Connection, and click on the appropriate column name. Alternatively, we can click on the column name in the Data View and drag this item and drop it onto the appropriate field name in the Design view.
