Finding the right asset in your dam should be simple. But traditional keyword search doesn’t always work the way users expect.
In Experience Manager, full-text search has always been case insensitive. However, it is not naturally tolerant of plurals, typos, or wording variations. That means users can search for something they believe exists in the dam and still get zero results. AEM Assets AI Search enhances traditional keyword search with AI-powered semantic search. Instead of only looking for exact keyword matches, it understands the meaning behind a query. Let’s look at an example. First, with AI Search disabled, I search for people bicycling in the country. The result? Zero assets found. But why? Because the asset metadata might say, Group road bike ride in nature. None of those words exactly match the search phrase. Traditional keyword search requires close textual alignment. So let’s now enable AI Search and run the exact same query again. People bicycling in the country. This time, relevant assets appear. Even though the metadata does not contain the exact words people bicycling or country, the AI understands the intent. It recognizes Thar bicycling road bike ride and that country relates to nature. It retrieves assets based on meaning, not just keywords.
That is semantic search in action. Users no longer need perfect keywords. They can simply describe what they are looking for.
Enabling AI Search is straightforward. To enable it for search in Assets view, go to General Settings, then Search, and toggle AI Search on. To enable it for search in Admin view, navigate to Tools, then Assets, then Assets Configurations, and open Assets OmniSearch Configuration.
Enable AI Search there. These settings are independent, so you can enable AI Search in Assets view, Admin view, or both.
