Restricting PDF download and print options in Scene7/Dynamic Media

When a PDF is delivered through a Scene7/Dynamic Media PDF delivery URL and opened in a browser, the browser displays download and print controls for the PDF. You cannot restrict or disable these controls, because they are managed by the browser’s built-in PDF viewer, not by Scene7/Dynamic Media.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  • Scene7/Dynamic Media

Symptoms

When a PDF is delivered via a Scene7/Dynamic Media PDF delivery URL and accessed in a browser, the browser displays Download and Print controls for the PDF.

Cause

The browser’s built-in PDF viewer is responsible for rendering the PDF and displaying the Download and Print controls. Scene7/Dynamic Media does not have the capability to alter the browser’s PDF viewer controls for direct PDF delivery URLs.

Resolution resolution

You cannot restrict or disable the browser’s native Download and Print controls for PDFs delivered via Scene7/Dynamic Media PDF delivery URLs. These controls are managed by the browser’s PDF viewer and cannot be controlled or hidden by Scene7/Dynamic Media.
