Production deployments remain in the Updating Indexes phase in AEM as a Cloud Service
This article explains why the Updating Indexes phase takes longer during Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service production deployments when a large volume of repository content is reindexed. To fix this, monitor the Cloud Manager pipeline execution logs, allow additional time while progress continues, review the logs for failures or stalled progress, and contact Adobe Support if the pipeline stops, fails, or reports errors.
Description description
Environment
- Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
- Cloud Manager production deployment pipelines
Issue/Symptoms
- Your production deployment remains in the Updating Indexes phase.
- You continue to see progress messages such as
Reindexing Traversed #65000000andCompleted 70%in the pipeline logs. - You don’t see errors, timeouts, or repository failures in the logs.
Cause
The Updating Indexes phase takes longer when a large volume of repository content is being reindexed. This extended duration is expected for deployments involving large repositories.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
- Monitor the progress of the indexing phase using the Cloud Manager pipeline execution logs. Look for regular progress messages indicating that indexing is ongoing (e.g., ‘Reindexing Traversed #’, ‘Completed %’).
- Allow additional time for a deployment involving a large repository. The Updating Indexes phase takes significantly longer than average when a large volume of repository content is being reindexed.
- Review the pipeline logs for signs of failure, timeout, or repository errors. If no errors are reported and progress messages continue, continue monitoring the indexing phase.
- If the pipeline stops making progress, fails, or reports errors, collect the relevant log information and open a request with Adobe Support for further assistance.
- After the Updating Indexes phase completes, verify that the deployment proceeds to the next step and completes successfully.
