Blank preview when editing content pages or Experience Fragments

This article explains how to address an issue in Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service where authors see a blank preview and are unable to edit or view content pages or Experience Fragments in the authoring environment.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS)

Issue/Symptoms

  • Authors are unable to edit or view content on content pages and Experience Fragments in the authoring environment.
  • The preview pane displays a blank page with no content rendered when accessing affected URLs.
  • The issue is reproducible by navigating to the affected URLs and attempting to edit or preview the page.

Cause

This issue occurs when a conflicting repository node (such as an audit-created access control policy node) prevents the author environment from initializing correctly. This can block the deployment of application code, resulting in blank pages in the authoring preview.

Resolution resolution

To fix the blank preview issue, follow these steps:

  1. Confirm the issue by navigating to affected content pages or Experience Fragments in the AEM Author environment and observing a blank preview pane.

  2. Check if there have been any recent failed deployments or incomplete rollouts in Cloud Manager.

  3. If the issue persists and you have not made recent code or configuration changes, escalate the issue to Adobe Support. Provide the following details:

    1. Affected URLs
    2. Recent deployment history (including any failed or cancelled deployments)
    3. Confirmation that the issue is reproducible and not resolved by redeploying a known-good code version
  4. After Adobe confirms remediation, verify that authors can view and edit content pages and Experience Fragments as expected.
