OAuth2 Mail Service does not send email notifications in non-production AEM environments
This article explains how to resolve an issue where the OAuth2 Mail Service in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) does not send email notifications in a non-production environment, even though it works correctly in production.
Description description
Environment
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
Issue/Symptoms
- OAuth2 Mail Service does not send email notifications in a non-production environment, even when the same configuration works in production.
- The issue affects email notifications for operations such as downloading multiple assets from AEM Assets.
- The issue occurs even when all required mail service configurations are set up correctly.
Cause
The root cause is often related to the OAuth2 refresh token or client secret being invalid or expired in the affected environment.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
- Regenerate the OAuth2 refresh token and client secret for the affected non-production environment.
- Update the OAuth2 Mail Service configuration in AEM with the new refresh token and client secret.
- Save the updated configuration.
- Retry the operation that triggers email notifications (for example, downloading multiple assets) and verify that emails are now being sent as expected.
