Resolve HTTP 403 Permission Denied errors with AI Assistant in AEM as a Cloud Service

The issue occurs when the required product profile or permissions for the AI Assistant have not been configured in the Adobe Admin Console.

Issue/Symptoms

  • When querying the AI Assistant for pages or experience fragments referencing a component, the search fails.
  • The following error is returned: HTTP 403 Permission Denied.

Cause

The user or group attempting to use the AI Assistant does not have the necessary product profile or permissions assigned in the Adobe Admin Console.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

  1. Log in to the Adobe Admin Console.
  2. Check if a product profile for AI Assistant exists.
  3. If the product profile does not exist, create a new product profile for AI Assistant.
  4. Enable the AI Assistant Product Knowledge permission within the profile.
  5. Create a new user group or use an existing group as needed.
  6. Add the relevant users to this user group.
  7. Assign the AI Assistant product profile to the user group.
  8. Log in to AEM and retry the AI Assistant query to confirm that the HTTP 403 Permission Denied error no longer occurs and that search results are returned as expected.
