AEM as a Cloud Service: Deploying ui.apps package using Cloud Manager pipeline

This article describes the supported method for deploying code changes, such as the ui.apps package, in Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service by using the Cloud Manager pipeline.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) (all versions)

Symptoms

  • A code change, such as the ui.apps package, needs to be deployed to the Stage environment for validation before Production deployment.
  • Direct installation of the package using the AEM as a Cloud Service Package Manager is requested.
  • There is a need for validation in Stage before proceeding to Production.
  • No specific error messages are present, but the request is for a deployment method not supported in AEM as a Cloud Service.

Cause

Direct deployment of application packages isn’t supported in AEM as a Cloud Service; all deployments must use the Cloud Manager pipeline to ensure compliance and stability.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure all required code changes are committed to the version control system associated with the Cloud Manager pipeline.
  2. Run the Cloud Manager pipeline to deploy the changes to the Stage environment.
  3. Validate the changes in the Stage environment.
  4. After successful validation, use the Cloud Manager pipeline to promote the changes to the Production environment.
