Issue/Symptoms

There is a need to determine which JDK versions are compatible with AEM Forms SP25, specifically regarding support for JDK 8 and JDK 11 (including minor versions such as 11.0.19 and 11.0.32). Guidance is also required for upgrading to JDK 11.0.32.

Cause

AEM Forms SP25 is compatible with both JDK 8 and JDK 11 (including newer minor versions). Upgrading the JDK requires updating the environment and validating application behavior to ensure compatibility.

Resolution resolution

To check compatibility and upgrade from JDK 8 to JDK 11, follow these steps:

  1. Confirm that AEM Forms SP25 supports both JDK 8 and JDK 11 (including minor versions such as 11.0.19 and 11.0.32).
  2. Run the LiveCycle Configuration Manager (LCM) using JDK 11.0.19 or the required JDK 11.0.x version.
  3. Complete the LCM process end to end.
  4. Perform validation and testing in a development or test environment.
  5. Once testing is successful, stop the JBoss Application Server.
  6. Update the JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to the required JDK 11 (11.0.x) version.
  7. Start JBoss and verify that the application is functioning as expected.
  8. Ensure all application functionality is validated after the upgrade in a non-production environment before proceeding to production.
