AEM Guides: Troubleshooting missing Czech translated content and DTD errors

This article provides troubleshooting steps for cases where Czech language translation folders are created in AEM Guides without translated content, and a DTD error appears when opening the content.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Guides (all versions)

Symptoms

  • After running a translation project for the Czech language, translation project folders are created, but contain no translated content or files.
  • The content in the translated content folder path for the Czech language appears in English instead of Czech.
  • Attempting to open the content results in a DTD error.

Cause

The root cause may be related to misconfiguration in the translation project setup or errors in DITA/XML content generation. The exact cause wasn’t established.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Verify the steps used to create and run the Czech language translation project:

    • Confirm the source content path selected for translation.

    • Ensure the target language is set to Czech.

    • Check whether you’re translating a DITA map or individual topics.

    • Determine if you’re creating a new translation project or adding content to an existing project.

    • Identify the translation connector or provider in use.

  2. Compare the expected output path with the actual output path to ensure translated content is being delivered to the correct location.

  3. Confirm if the English source content was originally authored in English or generated from another translation.

  4. Review the translation project logs for any errors or warnings during processing.

  5. Check if the translation job is correctly configured to process and deliver translated content to the Czech folder.

  6. Investigate the DTD error by examining the generated DITA/XML content for missing or invalid DTD references.

  7. After making corrections, rerun the translation project and verify that the Czech folder contains translated content and that the DTD error no longer appears when opening the files.
