Incomplete language copy creation in AEM Cloud Sites
This article explains how to resolve issues where using the Language Copy wizard in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Cloud Sites results in only a subset of pages being copied to the target language and provides steps to ensure a complete language copy.
Description description
Environment
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Cloud Sites (all versions)
Issue/Symptoms
- Only a few pages are created in the target language copy location when using the Language Copy wizard with structure only.
- The Language Copy workflow appears as Completed in the workflow console, but not all pages are present in the target location.
- The missing pages are inconsistent between attempts.
- Occasional performance issues and error code 500-001 occur during authoring operations.
Cause
The incomplete language copy typically occurs if the target language path already exists before you start the operation. When you run the Language Copy wizard again for the same target path, AEM skips processing and logs a message indicating that the language copy already exists, resulting in incomplete copying. Performance issues can also affect workflow execution.
Resolution resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Before creating a language copy, check whether the target path already exists in AEM Sites.
- If the target path exists, remove it or choose a different target location before starting the language copy operation.
- Use the Language Copy wizard to create the language copy, selecting the appropriate source and target paths and the desired options, such as structure only.
- After you start the operation, open the AEM workflow console and confirm that the Language Copy workflow appears as Completed in the Archive section.
- Verify that all expected pages have been created in the target location.
- If you experience performance degradation or error code 500-001 during authoring operations, investigate any concurrent high-load activities or open a support request for performance analysis.
- If the issue persists, collect relevant logs and workflow details, such as workflow status and affected page paths, and provide them to Adobe Support for further investigation.
