Resolve Unknown clientId login error in AEM Assets Connector for Figma

This article explains how to address login failures in the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets Connector for Figma when encountering an Unknown clientId error during authentication.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager Assets

Symptoms

When using the AEM Assets Connector for Figma, users are unable to sign in to access AEM DAM assets. The connector interface loads and displays the Experience Cloud login screen, but after clicking Login with Adobe, the sign-in process doesn’t complete and no assets are shown. Error messages such as An error occurred while loading the plugin environment appear, or network logs show repeated HTTP 400 errors from the Asset Selector OAuth endpoint with the message Unknown clientId. This issue occurs after product updates or changes to the connector or backend services.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure you are using the official Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets Connector from the Figma Community Marketplace.

    • Uninstall any existing AEM Assets Connector from Figma.

    • Reinstall the connector from the official Figma Community listing to ensure you have the latest supported version.

  2. Confirm that you are signing in to Figma with the same company or federated Adobe ID used for Experience Cloud and AEM Assets. Using a different Adobe ID or organization in Figma may prevent successful authentication.

  3. After reinstalling and confirming your sign-in identity, attempt to log in to the connector again, and verify if AEM DAM assets are accessible.

  4. If the issue persists and you continue to see the Unknown clientId error:

    • Capture a HAR file and browser console logs during the failing login attempt.

    • Provide these logs to Adobe Support for further investigation.
