AEM DMS7/DMC asset upload fails due to incorrect credentials
This article explains why asset uploads to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Dynamic Media–Scene7 mode (DMS7)/Dynamic Media Classic (DMC) may fail when a custom integration is configured with incorrect credentials, and outlines steps to resolve the issue.
Description description
Environment
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) DMS7/DMC (all versions)
Symptoms
- A custom application repeatedly attempts to upload multiple assets to DMS7/DMC, approximately once per second.
- Upload attempts fail due to the use of incorrect credentials for authentication.
- Uploads continue to fail until the correct user handle is provided.
- No specific error codes or stack traces are present in the logs.
Cause
The custom application was configured with incorrect credentials, resulting in repeated failed upload attempts. Uploads succeeded once the correct user handle was supplied.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
- Check the authentication configuration for the integration responsible for uploading assets to DMS7/DMC.
- Ensure the correct user handle and credentials are being used.
- If incorrect credentials are found, update the configuration to use the correct user handle and password or access credential.
- After updating credentials, monitor the application to confirm that upload requests are succeeding and no further authentication errors are observed.
- Review integration logs for any remaining failed authentication attempts to ensure all instances of incorrect credentials have been resolved.
