Bulk Import tool not visible in AEM Assets as a Cloud Service

This article explains how to resolve the issue where the Bulk Import tool is missing from the AEM Assets view or returns a 404 error, even when administrator permissions are assigned.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets as a Cloud Service

Symptoms

The Bulk Import tool in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets as a Cloud Service enables administrators to import assets in bulk.

  • The Bulk Import tool does not appear in the Assets view left rail.
  • Navigating directly to the Bulk Import URL, such as /assets/bulkimport, returns a 404 error.

Cause

This issue occurs during the initial setup of Bulk Import, particularly in environments where administrator access is assigned through groups instead of direct user assignments.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Sign in to the Adobe Admin Console.
  2. Navigate to Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service.
  3. Select the relevant AEM instance where the issue occurs.
  4. Locate the ‘AEM Administrators’ product profile for that instance.
  5. Verify that the affected user is listed as a direct member of the ‘AEM Administrators’ product profile.
  6. If the user is not directly assigned, add the user to the profile directly instead of relying only on group-based assignments.
  7. Save the changes, then have the user sign out of and sign back in to experience.adobe.com.
  8. Have the user sign out and sign back in to experience.adobe.com.
  9. Open the Assets view and confirm that the Bulk Import tool appears in the left rail and is accessible through its direct URL.
