AEM Assets: Discarded assets appear in Asset Link search results in Photoshop

Symptoms
- Assets that have been moved to the Trash folder in AEM Assets still appear in Asset Link search results in Photoshop.
- The File Info section in the File Details panel for these assets shows a path containing
/jcr:content/cq:discarded/, indicating the asset is in the Trash. - Assets that are permanently deleted from the Trash folder don’t appear in search results.
Cause
This behavior is due to a current product limitation in Asset Link, which doesn’t filter out assets in the Trash folder from search results.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
- Permanently delete assets from the Trash folder in AEM Assets to prevent them from appearing in Asset Link search results.
- Administrators can perform a hard delete using the classic Assets console (Touch UI), which bypasses the Trash and fully removes the asset.
- If assets are discarded using the new Assets UI or Asset Link, regularly empty the Trash folder to ensure these assets are fully removed.
- After emptying the Trash, verify that the discarded assets no longer appear in Asset Link search results.
