Ensure a single approval request for bulk page publishing in Adobe Experience Manager
This article explains how to address the issue in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) where initiating the Request for Activation workflow for multiple pages results in multiple approval requests instead of a single consolidated request.

Symptoms
When using the Request for Activation workflow in AEM to publish multiple pages from the Sites console, an individual approval request may be generated for each selected page. This can make it difficult to manage approvals when publishing a large number of pages at once.
By default, AEM should create a single approval request containing all selected pages as a workflow package. If this isn’t occurring, it may be due to workflow configuration or customizations.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
- Log in to the AEM Author instance with administrative privileges.
- Navigate to the Sites console.
- Select multiple pages you wish to publish.
- Click Create and select Workflow.
- Choose the Request for Activation workflow and click Create.
- Go to the Inbox, and verify if a single approval request is generated for all selected pages.
- If multiple approval requests are still generated:
- Navigate to Tools
>Workflow>Models. - Open the Request for Activation workflow model.
- Review the workflow’s payload handling. Ensure it’s configured to accept a workflow package (a single payload containing all selected pages), not individual page payloads.
- Check for any customizations or overrides in the workflow initiation process that might cause separate workflow instances per page.
- After making any necessary changes, repeat steps 2–6 to confirm that only one approval request is generated for all selected pages.
