AEM Assets: Moved assets not reflected in Brand Portal until republished

This article describes why assets moved on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Author don’t appear in their new location on Brand Portal until they are republished, and provides steps to resolve this inconsistency.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets with Brand Portal integration (all versions)

Symptoms

  • When an asset is published from AEM Author to Brand Portal and then moved to a different location on Author, the asset remains visible in its original location on Brand Portal.
  • The new location isn’t reflected in Brand Portal until the asset is republished from AEM Author.
  • This results in inconsistencies between the asset structure on Author and Brand Portal.
  • Assets moved on Author don’t automatically update their location on Brand Portal.
  • Edits or moves performed on Author aren’t reflected in Brand Portal unless the asset is republished.
  • Deleting an asset or folder on Author doesn’t remove it from Brand Portal unless Unpublish from Brand Portal is used.
  • No error messages are displayed; the issue is observed as a mismatch in asset locations between Author and Brand Portal.

Cause

Brand Portal doesn’t dynamically sync changes made on AEM Author. Only assets and folders explicitly published from Author are updated in Brand Portal. Moves, edits, or deletions require a new publish or unpublish action to reflect changes in Brand Portal.

Resolution resolution

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. After moving an asset or folder on AEM Author, select the asset(s) in the new location.
  2. Use the Publish to Brand Portal action to republish the asset(s) to Brand Portal.
  3. If the asset remains in the old location on Brand Portal, navigate to the original location and use the Unpublish from Brand Portal action to remove it.
  4. Verify that the asset now appears only in the new location on Brand Portal.
