AEM Assets: Public sharing links to Collections Prompt for authentication despite public sharing enabled
This article addresses the issue where recipients of public sharing links for Collections in AEM Assets are still required to authenticate, even when public sharing is enabled.
Description description
Environment
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets (all versions)
Issue/Symptoms
When attempting to share a Collection from Content Hub using the public sharing feature, recipients who access the generated public link are prompted to authenticate to Adobe Assets, despite the public sharing setting being enabled.
- Recipients receive a link to a Collection shared from Content Hub.
- Upon clicking the link, recipients are redirected to an authentication page instead of viewing the assets directly.
No specific error messages are displayed; the symptom is the unexpected authentication prompt.
Resolution resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Review the current AEM Assets documentation to confirm the expected behavior of public sharing for Collections via Content Hub.
- Verify that the Public Sharing setting is enabled for the Collection in question.
- Confirm that the correct sharing workflow is used for Collections, as public sharing has limitations or isn’t be supported for all asset types or configurations.
- If public sharing of Collections isn’t supported in your current version, consider sharing individual assets or folders instead, as these support public links without authentication.
