This article explains why the Copy URL feature in AEM Assets displays the message Template is not published after a successful publish operation.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Assets as a Cloud Service (all versions)

Issue/Symptoms

  • After updating and publishing a template in AEM Assets, the user receives a Publish Complete message.
  • When attempting to use the Copy URL button, the system displays the message: Template is not published and does not provide the published URL.
  • This issue blocks workflows that rely on the published asset URL, such as Hyperlocalization processes.

Error message observed:

Template is not published

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to the template in AEM Assets.
  2. Make updates and publish the template.
  3. After receiving the Publish Complete message, click Copy URL.
  4. Observe that the message Template is not published appears and no URL is provided.

Cause

A defect in the Beta version of the Copy URL feature prevented the system from recognizing the published status of templates. The issue was resolved by an engineering fix deployed to affected environments.

Resolution resolution

To fix the issue, follow these steps:

  1. Confirm that the template or asset has been published to the publish environment by checking its status in AEM Assets.
  2. If the issue persists, verify whether the Copy URL feature is part of a Beta program and that the tenant is enrolled in the Beta Agreement.
  3. If the feature is in Beta, ensure the environment is included in the Beta rollout and that the latest updates have been applied.
  4. If the issue continues after confirming Beta participation, contact Adobe Support to verify if a recent fix has been deployed to the environment.
  5. Validate the fix by repeating the publish and Copy URL steps.
  6. If resolved, proceed with normal workflow. If not, provide Adobe Support with reproduction steps and screenshots for further investigation.
