Asset version isn’t created when you select Create version in Adobe Asset Link UXP for Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
In AEM as a Cloud Service, selecting Create version during an upload conflict in Adobe Asset Link UXP updates the asset binary but doesn’t create a new version entry in the asset Timeline. To fix this, use the supported check-in and check-out workflow or an alternative Asset Link workflow until a product fix is available.
Description description
Environment
- Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
- Adobe Asset Link UXP
- Photoshop 27.1.0
Issue/Symptoms
- You connect Photoshop to Adobe Experience Manager by using Adobe Asset Link UXP.
- You retrieve an asset from Adobe Experience Manager, edit it in Photoshop, and upload it back to the same location.
- During upload, Adobe Asset Link UXP displays an upload conflict dialog with the Create version option.
- When you select Create version, Adobe Experience Manager updates the asset binary, but no new version entry appears in the asset Timeline.
- When you use the Check Out → Edit → Save → Check In workflow, Adobe Experience Manager creates a new version as expected.
- No specific error message appears, but the expected version entry is missing from the Timeline after upload.
Cause
A defect in the Adobe Asset Link UXP upload conflict flow prevents Adobe Experience Manager from creating a new asset version when you select Create version during upload.
Resolution resolution
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
-
Use one of the following workarounds until a product fix is available:
- Use the supported Check Out → Edit → Save → Check In workflow in Adobe Asset Link. This workflow correctly creates asset versions in Adobe Experience Manager.
- Alternatively, use the CEP-based Adobe Asset Link panel if it is available in your workflow.
-
Monitor the AEM as a Cloud Service release notes for updates about this issue.
-
After the product update is released, retest the workflow by using Adobe Asset Link UXP.
