AEMaaCS: Activate on Blueprint Activation rollout does not update live copies

In AEMaaCS, the Activate on Blueprint Activation rollout can fail to update live copies after you publish the blueprint. The solution is to verify the live copy relationship, review the rollout configuration, and confirm that the environment is not running an affected release.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) - Sites

Issue/Symptoms

In Multi Site Manager (MSM), the Activate on Blueprint Activation rollout configuration should publish live copies when you publish the blueprint. In some cases, AEM does not publish the updates to the live copies.

  • You update content in the blueprint, such as an Experience Fragment.
  • You publish the blueprint.
  • The live copies do not show the published updates.
  • The UI does not display an explicit error message.

Example URLs (replace the placeholders with values from your environment):

  • Blueprint properties: https://author-<env>.adobeaemcloud.com/mnt/overlay/wcm/core/content/sites/properties.html?item=/content/experience-fragments/<tenant>/us/en/site/products-lighting-controls-menu/master
  • Blueprint editor: https://author-<env>.adobeaemcloud.com/editor.html/content/experience-fragments/<tenant>/us/en/site/products-lighting-controls-menu/master.html

Resolution resolution

Review the official MSM rollout documentation and confirm how Activate on Blueprint Activation should behave.

  • Confirm that the blueprint and the target pages have a valid live copy relationship.
  • Verify that you assigned the Activate on Blueprint Activation rollout configuration to the blueprint or live copy configuration, as applicable.
  • After you update the blueprint, use Publish to publish it.
  • Check whether AEM publishes the live copies automatically after you publish the blueprint.
  • Review any customizations or workflow overrides that could affect MSM rollout behavior.
  • If you use AEMaaCS, check whether your environment runs an affected release. A documented issue in release 2025.09.22450 could prevent standard rollout configurations from publishing live copy target pages automatically. If your environment uses that release, update to a newer release.
  • If the issue continues, contact Adobe Support and include the environment details, product version, and clear reproduction steps.

Cause

This issue usually occurs when the live copy relationship or rollout configuration is not set up as expected. In AEM as a Cloud Service, a product release issue can also cause the same behavior. Verify the live copy configuration and confirm whether your environment runs an affected release.
