This article addresses the issue where the Vanity URL property is missing from the Page Properties dialog in Classic UI when accessed from Site Admin in Adobe Experience Manager.

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Classic UI (all versions)

Issue/Symptoms

  • The Vanity URL property isn’t visible in the Page Properties dialog when accessed from Site Admin in Classic UI.
  • The issue occurs in the Production environment.
  • The issue is browser-independent (reproduced in both Firefox and Chrome).
  • The issue affects multiple users, including those with admin privileges, and multiple pages.
  • When the page is opened for editing and Page Properties is accessed from the Sidekick, the Vanity URL property appears as expected.
  • No error messages are displayed in the UI.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to https://<author-host>/siteadmin.
  2. Drill down to the desired site and page.
  3. Right-click the page and select Properties.
  4. Observe that the Vanity URL section is missing from the Basic tab below the On/Off Time section.

Resolution resolution

  1. Review UI Access Method:

    • Confirm whether the Classic UI is being used to access Page Properties via Site Admin.
    • If the Vanity URL property is required, use the Touch UI or access Page Properties from the Sidekick in Classic UI as a workaround.

  2. Check for UI Deprecation:

    • Be aware that support for the Classic UI functionality has been discontinued in recent AEM versions.
    • Functionality differences between Classic UI and Touch UI are expected and may not be resolved.

  3. Plan for UI Migration:

    • Consider migrating workflows to the Touch UI, where the Vanity URL property is fully supported.

Cause

The Classic UI is deprecated and no longer receives updates or bug fixes. The missing Vanity URL property in the Page Properties dialog accessed via Site Admin is a limitation of the unsupported Classic UI.
