Experience fragment live copy requires “Rollout config” selection in AEM
In some Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) environments, creating a live copy variation of an experience fragment shows inconsistent behavior between two environments. In one environment, AEM creates the live copy variation directly without any additional selection. In the other environment, AEM requires selecting a Rollout config during variation creation, and skipping this selection results in a blank variation that doesn’t remain connected to the original experience fragment. To resolve the issue, remove the unnecessary Rollout config from CRXDE Lite.
Description description
Environment
-
Product:
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM),v 6.5 LTS
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) - Managed Services,
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) - Sites
-
Constraint: Managed Services Author environment without Commerce installed
Issue/Symptoms
- When creating a live copy variation of an experience fragment in the affected environment, AEM prompts for a Rollout config selection.
- If no Rollout config option is selected, AEM creates a blank variation that remains disconnected from the original experience fragment.
- This behavior doesn’t occur in an Out-Of-The-Box (OOTB) environment, where AEM creates live copy variations as expected without requiring a Rollout config selection.

- Access
CRXDELite on the affected AEM Author instance. - Navigate to

productUpdatenode and save the changes. - Create a new experience fragment live copy variation and confirm that AEM no longer prompts for a Rollout config.
