Customer Attributes data import remains in STAGING status when using FTP upload
When importing Customer Attributes data through FTP (File Transfer Protocol), the ingestion process remains in the STAGING status and never completes. To resolve the issue, update the FTP file permissions to readable values.
Description description
Environment
Adobe Experience Cloud - Customer Attributes
Issue/Symptoms
- Files uploaded via FTP for Customer Attributes remain in the STAGING status and don’t complete processing.
- The same CSV file completes successfully when uploaded through the browser-based UI.
- Retrying the import with test files or split files shows the same behavior for FTP uploads.
Root cause
FTP‑uploaded files use restrictive permissions, such as 600, which prevent the Customer Attributes ingestion service from reading the files correctly.
Resolution resolution
Follow the steps below to address the issue:
- Check the permissions for the Customer Attributes CSV and
.finfiles on the FTP server you use for Customer Attributes ingestion. - Identify files with restrictive permission settings, such as 600, that limit read access.
- Update the file permissions to a readable mode, such as 644, or another setting that allows the ingestion service to read the files.
- Reupload the files through FTP and verify that the import completes successfully.
