Adobe Experience Manager: Introduction to the Distribute Function

Description description

When you need to work with nodes that are difficult to manage through the regular publication flow (for example, truststore nodes), or when you must resolve replication inconsistencies, you can use the Distribute (Distribution) function as an operational tool. This function allows you to add or remove individual nodes from the Author tier to the Publish or Preview tiers in a targeted manner.
In principle, content on the Publish and Preview tiers is managed from the Author tier by using standard features such as Publish/Unpublish and Manage Publication. Direct operations on Publish nodes are not part of daily operations. Use the Distribute function only when truly necessary and restrict its use to carefully selected cases.

Unlike the standard page and asset publication features, Sling content distribution can manipulate individual repository nodes in the Publish/Preview tier.


Step 1. In the Author environment, go to Tools > Deployment > Distribution.

Step 2. Select the target tier “Publish” or “Preview”.

Step 3. Open the Distribute tab.

Step 4. Select the action type “Add node” or “Delete”.

Step 5. Enter the node path in the Path field.

Step 6. Click Submit.
