Workflow Action Missing in Content Fragments Console in AEMaaCS

In AEMaaCS, the Content Fragments console doesn’t always display a workflow action in its Action Bar by default. Without this action, authors can’t trigger workflows directly from the Content Fragments console Action Bar. To fix this, enable the workflow extension for content fragments and verify that the workflow action appears and starts workflows as expected.

Product: Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service – Sites (AEMaaCS)

Issue/Symptoms

  • The Content Fragments console doesn’t display an option in the Action Bar to start workflows for selected content fragments.
  • Authors are unable to initiate workflows directly from the Content Fragments console without additional configuration.

Resolution resolution

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Access the AEM Extension Manager documentation at https://developer.adobe.com/uix/docs/extension-manager/ to review how to discover, configure, and enable extensions.
  2. Follow the documented steps to enable the workflow extension for Content Fragments as outlined at https://developer.adobe.com/uix/docs/extension-manager/extension-developed-by-adobe/content-fragments-workflows/ to enable the workflow extension for content fragments.
  3. After enabling the extension, verify that the workflow action appears in the Action Bar of the Content Fragments console.
  4. Select one or more content fragments and confirm that the workflow action opens a modal for selecting and starting a workflow model.
  5. Verify that the workflows start and run successfully for the selected content fragments.

Note:

Enabling this feature requires using an officially supported extension. There is no out-of-the-box feature or documented approach outside of this method.
