Audience qualification in Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) fails when events fall outside the evaluation window defined in the audience criteria. Batch ingestion delays push events beyond the required timeframe, preventing profiles from qualifying. To resolve the issue, adjust the batch import timing or modify the audience rule’s time window.

Environment
- Product: Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) – Journey Optimizer
- Constraints: Audience configured for batch import via SFTP with a 24-hour event occurrence window
Issue/Symptoms
- Profiles don’t qualify for a streaming audience, even though their associated events meet most criteria.
- No new profiles have been qualified since the start of the week, despite eligible events being present.
Resolution resolution
To fix this issue, follow these steps:

Review the audience configuration to confirm that qualification rules include a condition requiring events to occur within the last 24 hours.

Check how events are ingested into Adobe Journey Optimizer. If using SFTP, remember it’s a batch process, not real-time.

Understand that with batch processing, by the time the daily job runs (for example, at 5 AM), some events may fall outside of the required 24-hour window for qualification.

Examine sample profiles and their associated event data to ensure all required fields are present and meet criteria.
Note: If any field or timing requirement is not met, those profiles will not qualify.

Adjust either the timing of your batch import or modify your audience rule’s time window so that eligible events fall within it when evaluated.

Verify changes by checking if newly ingested profiles qualify for the audience.
Note:
- Streaming audiences require real-time event ingestion. Using batch imports can lead to missed qualifications because of strict time-based rules.
- All rule conditions must be satisfied for profile qualification. Missing fields or mismatched keywords will prevent inclusion in an audience.
