Cloudflare timeout and redirect issues in Adobe Commerce
Cloudflare is a third‑party CDN/WAF that some merchants place in front of Fastly for Adobe Commerce. This stacked CDN or BYOCDN setup adds an extra layer outside Adobe’s operational control. As a result, Adobe Support can troubleshoot only Adobe Commerce platform and Fastly behavior—not Cloudflare configuration or behavior. To resolve issues where Cloudflare is involved, you must review and adjust Cloudflare settings and, when needed, work with Cloudflare Support.
Description description
Environment
- Adobe Commerce Cloud (all versions)
- Fastly
- Cloudflare
Issue/Symptoms
- HTTP 524 timeout errors occur during requests.
- Unexpected redirects or incorrect caching behavior are observed on the site.
Root Cause
Cloudflare functions as a third-party service in Adobe Commerce environments. Adobe Commerce Support can’t modify Cloudflare configuration or troubleshoot issues originating from Cloudflare.
Resolution resolution
Perform the following steps to address Cloudflare-related issues:
- Verify the source of the issue by confirming whether errors originate from Cloudflare, Adobe Commerce, or Fastly.
- Contact Cloudflare Support for assistance with configuration or troubleshooting. Adobe Support can’t make changes to Cloudflare or contact them on your behalf.
- Review Cloudflare documentation in the Help Center and Community for guidance on resolving timeout, caching, or redirect issues.
- Coordinate with your IT team before implementing any changes to Cloudflare configuration. Ensure adjustments are tested and consider the impact on DNS, SSL, and CDN performance.
Note:
- Disabling Cloudflare may be possible, but it should be approached with caution. Evaluate the impact on security, DNS, and performance before making changes.
- Adobe doesn’t provide guidance or support for disabling Cloudflare; consult Cloudflare documentation or support for assistance.
