‘The export order does not contain a valid destination ID’ error on Azure Blob destination when activating an audience

After setting up an Azure blob connection in AEP, you may encounter some errors while activating segments if the necessary access rights have not been granted. In most cases, these permissions are provided via Azure role-based access control (Azure RBAC)

Description description

While activating an audience to a newly created Azure Blob destination, error ACTBTC-2800-400 comes up with the following message details:

ACTBTC-2800-400
An error has occurred when exporting data to the destination. The data export with the flowId=[ value] datasetId=[ value] flowRunId=[ value] parameters was unable to be completed. The export order does not contain a valid destination ID. Please verify that the destination export configuration is correct

Resolution resolution

Setting up the destination itself in AEP is not sufficient if the correct privileges have not been granted on Azure, see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/authorize-data-operations-portal.

Depending on how you want to authorize access to blob data in the Azure portal, you need specific permissions. In most cases, these permissions are provided via Azure role-based access control (Azure RBAC)

‘Reader and Data Access’ would the primary access to check and test as it will allow read/write access to all data contained in a storage account via access to storage account keys.
