Question: What settings are there regarding Time To Live for Dynamic Media Scene7?
Answer: There are 3 different TTL settings. The most common one and the only one configurable by the customer is the one for images and static content. When a customer is onboarded, this TTL is set to 10 hours, but it can be configured by the customer. In AEM, the setting is in an awkward location giving the impression it applies to thumbnails only, but this is not the case: It is in Tools - Assets - Dynamic Media Publish Setup - Publish Context: Image Serving - Common Thumbnail Attributes - Default cache time to live.
In the DMC app, the setting is in the menu - Setup - Application Setup - Publish Setup - Image Server - Default Client Cache Time To Live.
The 2nd setting is the TTL or the default image. In the DM publish settings a default image can be configured to be served in case the image requested is not available. This defaultImage has a TTL of 1 hour. This means that when an image is not available and displayed as the defaultImage, and then the image is uploaded, it can take up to 1 hour for the actual image to be displayed. If this TTL would need to be changed you would need to submit a support ticket to get that done.
The 3rd setting is the TTL for short lived content. The most important implementation using this TTL is e.g. a request for the members of a set using the parameter req=set. This type of request has a TTL of 6 minutes.
