Workflow emails fail to deliver when the “From” address differs in Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service

In AEMaaCS, workflow email notifications fail to send when the “From” address in the Day CQ Mail Service doesn’t match the one in the Day CQ Workflow Email Notification Service. Aligning these configurations enables successful delivery of workflow emails. To fix this issue, update both services to use the same “From” address.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service(AEMaaCS) – Sites

Issue/Symptoms

  • Task emails are received, but workflow emails are not delivered.
  • SMTP configurations work for asset sharing, but not for workflow emails.
  • The issue occurs across multiple environments and persists after version upgrades.

Resolution resolution

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Access the AEM Web Console Configuration Manager.
  2. Locate and open the configuration for Day CQ Mail Service and note the value set for the From address field.
  3. Locate and open the configuration for Day CQ Workflow Email Notification Service.
  4. Navigate to Tools > Operations > Web Console > Configuration Manager.
  5. Update the From address in this service to match exactly with that used in the Day CQ Mail Service.
  6. Save both configurations.
  7. Trigger a workflow that sends an email notification to verify if workflow emails are now being delivered.

Note:

  • The root cause is unrelated to AEM or SDK version upgrades; it is specific to mail service configuration mismatch.
  • Ensure that both services use an identical, valid email address for consistent behavior across all environments.
