Why does the Workspace Page Dimension Show Over 100 Bytes? (Page Length Exceeds 100 Bytes Limit)

A customer noticed that in Adobe Analytics Workspace, a page listed in the “Page” dimension appeared to have a string value exceeding 100 bytes, even though the page dimension is documented as having a 100-byte limit.

Root Cause & Explanation

The “Page” dimension in the UI (and via API requests) will display pagename if it is set and available; otherwise, it displays the page_url.
If pagename is the source for the Page dimension, it is limited to 100 bytes.
If page_url is used as the source (when there is no pagename), the displayed value can be up to 255 bytes.
