Lightbox folder not created automatically for non-admin users in AEM 6.5
In Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), the Lightbox feature doesn’t automatically create the Lightbox folder for non-admin users when assets are added. This occurs because required permissions are missing for these users. To resolve the issue, grant appropriate permissions and verify Lightbox folder creation.

Issue/Symptoms
- When an admin adds an asset to the Lightbox, the Lightbox folder is automatically created and visible.
- For a non-admin, adding an asset doesn’t create the Lightbox folder automatically.
- A non-admin can manually create a Lightbox collection and use it if the folder already exists.
Resolution resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Add non-admin users to the
dam_usersgroup to provide direct access. -
Ensure each relevant user has read access to
/home/users.- Grant read, modify, and create permissions on
/content/dam/collections. - Provide read and modify permissions on
/content/dam/. - Confirm that all sub-nodes under
/content/dam/collectionsand within each Lightbox folder have correct permissions.
