Expired assets and DMwOpenAPI

Is there a way to have an asset expire, have it show up with an expired label in ContentHub, while still having the asset served from DMwOA?

Description description

Affected products and versions

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) - Assets

Issue

When the expiration date metadata is set for the asset, once the expiration date is reached, the assets would be deactivated and wouldn’t be available to access via DMwOpenAPI.

However, if you have a specific requirement to not have it deactivated, but have the labels and all other associated functionalities to remain the same, is there any customization/configuration available to customize the behavior of expiration date within AEM Assets and DMwOpenAPI? What would be the recommended approach for this?

Resolution resolution

The OOTB expiration, when passed, causes the asset to no longer be served from any downstream applications. This can’t be customized.

The recommended approach is to use a custom metadata field for the expiration, have that show up with a label in ContentHub and not use the OTB expiration in order for the asset to remain available through DMwOA.
