Temporary audience schema not defined in Adobe Campaign

Workflows in Adobe Campaign Classic v8 can fail after migration due to missing temporary audience schemas. To resolve this, rebuild the audience steps, remove outdated references, re-add valid audiences, and restart the workflows.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Campaign Classic, v8

Issue/Symptoms

  • Workflow deliveries fail after migration.
  • Error message appears: XTK-170024 The temporary ‘temp$RestKey(ctxid_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX/audience)’ schema is not defined in the current context.
  • Workflows reference temporary audiences or segments that don’t exist at runtime.
  • Audience configurations were changed or deleted during or after migration.

Resolution resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Open each affected workflow in Adobe Campaign Classic v8.
  2. Identify activities that reference an audience, group, or list - especially in targeting or delivery steps.
  3. Remove and re-add the audience from the control group in delivery steps.
  4. Rebuild the audience step to generate a fresh dynamic group.
  5. Ensure no references point to deleted or outdated audience objects.
  6. Save the workflow and restart it.

This ensures valid references and allows the system to create the required temporary schemas for successful delivery execution.
