Bulleted list icon deletes content when nesting lists in new AEM Guides UI

In the new Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Guides UI, using the bulleted list icon to create nested lists deletes existing content. To fix this, use the + (Insert Element) icon, search for ul  (unordered list) or ol (ordered list), and insert the sublist element directly.

Description description

Environment

  • Product: Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) - Guides
  • Instance: Production
  • Product Offering: Cloud Manager

Issue/Symptoms

In the new Adobe Experience Manager Guides (AEM) user interface, clicking the bulleted list icon while trying to create a nested list inside an existing one either erases the list’s content or removes the entire list. The expected functionality of inserting a sublist directly using the bulleted list icon is not working. To create a nested list, you need to use a different method.

Resolution resolution

To address this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Click the  + (Insert Element) icon in the toolbar.
  2. Search for and select either ul (unordered list) or ol (ordered list) from the available options.
  3. Insert the desired sublist element into your document.

This behavior is intentional in the current AEM UI. The bulleted list icon toggles list formatting on and off rather than creating nested lists. Using the + icon ensures proper insertion of nested lists without affecting existing content.
