404 error when delivering local images via Dynamic Media Hybrid

Dynamic Media Hybrid fails to deliver local images in AEM 6.5.23. A request to http://localhost:4502/is/image returns a 404 Not Found error. The response body displays: No preview server defined for root ID referenced in net path.  This issue occurs when the required add-on package is missing. To resolve the issue, install the Dynamic Media Hybrid add-on package.

  • Product: Adobe Experience Manager 6.5
  • Instance: Dynamic Media Hybrid mode

Issue/Symptoms

  • The response body displays the message: No preview server defined for root ID referenced in net path.

  • Local image delivery fails when using Dynamic Media Hybrid mode in Adobe Experience Manager 6.5.23.

  • The following error appears in the error.log file:

Resolution resolution

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Download the AEM 6.5 Dynamic Media Hybrid Add-on Package (cq-dam-delivery-65-hybrid-addon-1.0.zip) from Adobe Software Distribution.
  2. Open the OSGi Console and go to OSGi > Bundles.
  3. Uninstall the bundle named com.adobe.cq.dam.cq-scene7-imaging.
  4. Open Package Manager and install the downloaded add-on package.

This restores local image delivery functionality in Dynamic Media Hybrid mode.
