RWS Trados TMS connector user permissions in Adobe Experience Manager 6.5

Last update: March 7, 2025

For this issue where modified pages sent for translation aren’t being received back, ensure that the rws-admin user has appropriate permissions per the RWS Trados Connector documentation, check if the user belongs to the project-administrators group, has access to necessary content path, and apply the specific permissions.

Description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Manager 6.5 Managed Services (AEM 6.5 Managed Services)
  • Connector: RWS Trados TMS

Issue

Translations work correctly for initial submissions, but fail when modified pages are sent.

Translated content is processed in the Trados connector, but not returned to AEM, so the content isn’t updated in translated pages.

The issue is resolved when the user is part of the admin group, indicating a permissions-related problem.

Resolution

To address this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that the rws-adminuser has appropriate permissions per the RWS Trados Connector documentation.
    • Check if the user belongs to the project-administrators group and has access to necessary content paths.
  2. Apply the permissions documented in Step 2 - Grant user permissionson the RWS Documentation Center site.
    • Use Touch UI for setting permissions via Tools > Security > Permissions.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve issues related to translation failures due to permission settings in AEM when using the RWS Trados TMS connector.
