Brand Portal - Share Link Download Issue
This article addresses the issue in the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) - Assets environment where you can’t download content using a shared link from BrandPortal. To resolve this, check if the Fast Download option is enabled and if the IBM Aspera client is installed.
Description
Environments
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) - Assets
Issue
Unable to download content using a shared link from BrandPortal, despite being able to successfully share content using the same link.
Actual Result
Attempting to download the content throws an error message:
NOTICE: You don’t have access to download, please contact your administrator.
Expected Result
You are able to download the content without any issues when accessing it through the shared link.
Steps to Reproduce
- Log in to the Brand Portal.
- Navigate to the content you wish to share.
- Use the Share Link feature to generate a shareable link.
- Share the link with another user or open it in the browser.
- Attempt to download the content using the shared link.
Resolution
When you closely examine the error message and the screen, you’ll notice that the IBM Aspera client is trying to start but isn’t installed.
This issue occurs when the Fast Download option is enabled in BrandPortal >
Adobe Experience Cloud Assets >
Download Settings. For this setting to work, the IBM Aspera client must be installed on the client system where downloads are performed. If the client isn’t installed, you should disable this setting.
