Fields not displaying in AEP segment builder

This article addresses an issue where attributes or fields from a dataset don’t appear in Adobe Experience Platform’s Segment Builder, even after successful data ingestion. Follow the steps mentioned in this article to resolve this problem and to ensure seamless segment creation.

Issue
When attempting to create segments using datasets in the Adobe Experience Platform, fields from a dataset might not display in the Segment Builder interface. Symptoms include:
- Newly created datasets fail to show fields in the Segment Builder.
- Data ingestion is successful, and data is visible upon previewing, but fields remain invisible in Segment Builder.
- This issue occurs in both development and production environments.
Resolution

Verify schema population:
- Ensure that schema fields in your dataset are populated with data.

Show full XDM schema:
- In the Audience Builder interface, select the gear icon next to Fields.
- Select Show full XDM schema under Available Fields. Note: By default, the setting is enabled for Show Only Fields with Data.
- Return to the Fields tab to view all schema fields, including those without data.

Check for temporary errors:
- If field visibility is still an issue, allow some time to see if the issue resolves itself.
- Check the Adobe Status Page for potential service disruptions affecting the Segment Builder or related services.

Segment evolution:
- After adjusting settings, perform an on-demand segment evaluation to confirm fields and return the expected number of users.
