Access computed attributes in non-production environments in Adobe Experience Platform

This article explains how to resolve issues related to computed attributes not being accessible in non-production environments of Adobe Experience Platform (AEP). The problem typically arises due to missing or incorrectly assigned permissions. This article provides steps to identify and resolve these permission issues, ensuring computed attributes are accessible in your sandbox.

Description description

Environment

Adobe Experience Platform

Issue/Symptoms

In non-production environments of Adobe Experience Platform, computed attributes may be inaccessible due to permission-related issues. Symptoms include:

  • Attempting to use new features involving computed attributes, particularly in newly created sandboxes, but encountering accessibility issues.
  • Unable to locate specific permissions for computed attributes in the roles and permissions settings despite having administrative access.

Resolution resolution

  1. Check role assignments :

    • Ensure you are assigned a role that includes permissions for managing computed attributes.
  2. Check existing permissions :

    • Navigate to Role Management within the AEP Admin Console.
    • Review roles assigned to you and check for permissions related to computed attributes.
  3. Manually add required permissions :

    • If the required role does not exist, manually add the necessary permissions for accessing computed attributes.

    • Note that to gain access, you must have the appropriate permissions: View Computed Attributes and Manage Computed Attributes.

    • Follow Adobe’s official documentation for adding permissions:

  4. Assign Updated Role:

    • Assign the updated role to yourself.
  5. Test Access:

    • After assigning the correct roles and permissions, test access by attempting to use the computed attributes in your non-production environment.
    • Verify if you can now access the previously restricted features. In the Customer > Profiles section of the left-hand menu, you should see the Computed Attributes option alongside other available options such as Overview, Browse, Merge Policies, and Union Schema.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the inaccessibility of computed attributes in your non-production environments effectively.
