AEP: locked custom field group can’t be edited in Schema editor
Learn how to resolve the issue of locked custom field groups in Adobe Experience Platform’s Schema editor by modifying enum
values in the Data Types editor.
Description description
Environments
Adobe Experience Platform (AEP)
Applicable to all versions where custom field groups are used within schemas.
Issue
When attempting to add a new enum value to a custom field that is part of a custom field group in AEP, the following issues can occur:
- The custom field cannot be modified.
- A padlock icon appears next to the field group, which typically indicates it is locked and unmodifiable.
- After adding a new value and saving, the page refreshes but doesn’t show the newly added value despite a seemingly successful save.
Resolution resolution
Currently, we don’t allow the editing of data type fields in the Schema editor. Instead, go to the Data types editor and add/replace enums there.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
-
Access the Data types editor:
- Log in to AEP.
- Select Schemas under Data Management.
- Browse the page within AEP.
- Select Data Types from the menu at the top of the page.
-
Locate the custom field group:
- Use filters, if necessary (For example: select the Custom radio button) to find your specific data type.
- Locate and select your relevant data type.
-
Modify enum values:
- Drill down into your specific enum field that needs modification.
- Add or replace enum values directly within this section.
-
Save changes:
- Ensure you save changes after modifying or adding new enum values in the Data types editor.
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully modify or add new enum values without encountering issues related to locked fields in the Schema editor mode.
The relevant elements should be saved, and you should then be able to see the value changes in the Schema itself.
