Schema UI does not allow adding enum values to existing schema field

Explore the process of adding new enum values to existing schema fields in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) when the Schema UI fails to save changes.

Description description

Environment

  • Adobe Experience Platform (AEP)
  • Real-Time Customer Data Platform

Issue/Symptom(s)

In this specific scenario, you want to modify a field group where an enum has been applied, and you simply wish to add new values to the enum field. The field is part of a custom field group.

Resolution resolution

These fields are part of a data type.

We are not allowed to edit data type fields on the schema editor.

For this, you need to go to the data type editor and add/replace enums on the datatype editor.

  • Go to the Schema browse page and then go to the Data Types menu at the top. From there, locate your custom data type (you can use the custom radio button to filter this).
  • Locate the field in question to add an additional enum value from there.
  • It now saves without a problem, and you can see the value in the schema itself.
